Aim: to evaluate the quality of surface water sources of centralized drinking water supply and to determinate on this basis the state and response indicators for the creation of proposals for the application of new processing methods to improve the quality of drinking water. Methods: analysis and systematization of data on the quantitative and qualitative composition of natural surface waters; methods of coagulation, oxidation, adsorption of contaminants from natural waters to improve natural water conditioning technology. The main results: the quality of surface water sources of drinking water from basins of the Upper Dnieper River near Kyiv intakes and the Middle Dnieper intakes near Kremenchug and Aul was estimated.Prioritized and integrated water quality indices in different hydro-logical periods were established. Now to improve the efficiency of coagulation treatment Dnieper water in existing treatment plants Dnieper recommendations were developed and implemented. Perspective directions of application of new processing methods to improve the quality of drinking water in the Dnieper Kremenchug waterworks were created.
