Aim: to establish regularities of extraction proceeding of organic compounds on a biologically active carbon and determination of conditions for BAC active operation; development on this basis technology for the purification of natural water and wastewater from organic matters. Methods: the study of adsorption equilibrium and dynamics, microbiological, biochemical studies, activation of carbon.The main results: the conditions and regularities of gradual transition regime of physical sorption of organic matters from water to biosorption on activated carbon (AC) and ways of provision of effective functioning of a biofilm on AC were established, namely: regulation of the content of dissolved oxygen; AC application developed mesoporous structure; limiting the load of organic matter on the AC; a periodical biological and chemical regeneration of AC; modification of the surface AC by iron oxides; increasing the proportion of biologically available carbon in the composition of total organic carbon. Insensitive to chlorine of microbiological culture, that according to morphological and cultural features is capable to form a dense and well-structured pellicle and biofilm. A method for obtaining a new sorbent with developed mesoporous structure is created.
