The first phase was dedicated to the production of highly oriented self-assembled organic films of anchor-linker compounds with the effects of switching. A significant part of the project was to adapt scanning probe techniques to studies in the atmosphere and on liquid-solid interface. During execution of the project self-organized films of 3 arylpropanthiols-1 (3-naphthalene-1-yl-propane-1-thiol, 3-phenanthrene-9-yl-propane-1-thiol and diarylethene derivatives) were obtained. The resulting films were investigated at nanometer and subnanometer level using the method of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The results provide a basis for the construction of optical modulators and new type sensors.
