The purpose of the work - to investigate structurally functional changes of spinal muscles at degenerate diseases of lumbar spine and to study the influence of these changes on results of surgical treatment. Research methods - clinical, radiological, it is computer-tomografic, EMG, experimental, histological, statistical. By means of the developed computer program it is stated that with the years there is a reduction of a muscular tissue and the increase of copulative and fatty tissue in all investigated steps. On the basis of the analysis of computer tomograms it is proved that the authentic augmentation in paravertebral muscles of fatty tissue in patients with diagnoses of instability, intervertebral hernia, spondylolisthesis, stenosis in comparison with control group. As a result of the analysis of the created algorithm of forecasting of the results of surgical treatment it is revealed that the basic index defining the unsatisfactory result of surgical treatment, is the general content of fat over 14,5 %.
