Purpose - to develop new approaches to the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with substance abuse profile based on the results of longitudinal study of influence of heredity factors and environmental factors on course of addictive disorders (smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling, etc.) It was established that systematic contact with the physician significantly lower in the examined patients the level of all existing addiction and not just that which was the reason for medical help seeking. There was discovered the phenomenon of adaptation of families with a tendency toward addictive disorders to the toxic effects of psychoactive substances. It was found that the most reliable indicator of the rehabilitation patients' potential of substance abuse profile is the constancy of their need to use the health care resources. There were defined markers with low rehabilitation potential in patients who were dependent on different psychoactive substances, and new approaches for improving the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation interventions were on developed this basis.
