Journalism Department popup.description2 Objects of studies: reactions of electrochemical oxidation reaction of aliphatic (С1-С2) alcohols and some its derivatives. Purpose of work: development of synthesis methods of the nanocomposite metal-polymeric material and study of its electrocatalytic properties in the reaction of the electrochemical oxidation of aliphatic alcohols (methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, etc.) and some its derivatives (formaldehyde, formic acid). Methods of studies: cyclic voltammetry, IR spectroscopy, scanning electrone microscopy, X-ray diffraction. Synthesis of composites on the basis of polyaniline (PAn) and nanodispersed palladium as thin films on the surface of electrode-substrates has been carried out by different techniques. Its electrocatalytic properties relative to the oxidation of the aliphatic alcohols and some its derivatives in acid medium was studied. It is determined that chemical reduction of palladium precursor by polyaniline in leucoemeraldine form is optimal method for synthesis of the PAn/palladium nanoparticles composites. It was observed that introduction of Pd nanoparticles (NPs) in the polymeric (polyaniline) modified layer leads to the considerable (in 3-10 times) increasing of oxidation/reduction currents. PАn/Pd-NPs modifies electrodes has electrocatalytic activity relative to oxidation of formaldehyde in the first place; the final product of this process id carbon(II) oxide. It was determined that elongation of hydrocarbon chain in the substrate leads to the increasing of effectivity of the synthesized composites as a catalysts of electrooxidation, that is connected with hydrophilic- hydrophobic balance in the modified electrode | electrolyte solution boundary.
