object of investigation is a process of specialized (profile) preparation of senior pupils to their future professional activity related to the foreign language. The aim of the work is to definetheoretically, to ground scientifically and to test experimentally the objectives and the contents of elective courses for profile preparation of senior school students to professional activity related to the foreign language. Research methods: analysis, supervision, conversations, questionnaires, modelling, diagnosing. The scientific novelty and theoretical value of the achieved results are in development and scientific and theoretical ground of contents, structure, volume of education, forms and methods of teaching foreign languages for students of 10-11th forms of profile school in general educational establishments by means of elective courses. Practical results consist in preparation of manuscripts on program of elective courses, a conception of manuals and the manuals of elective courses in English, Spanish, German, French and in development of pedagogical technologies of its use in school.Theresultsoftheintermediatereport: scientificandtheoreticalbasesofconstructingcontenttextbooksonelectivecoursesforhighschoolstudentsinEnglish, German, SpanishandFrench,didacticandmethodologicalprinciplesofselectionandstructuringtextsinthecontentsofelectivecourses,a systemforpretextandaftertextexercisesandtasksinthecontentsofelectivecoursesare definedandgrounded;a selection of educational materials (texts for reading, system of exercises and tasks, illustrative materials, after text materials) to content of six textbooks on elective courses in English, German, Spanish and French for students in specialized schools is made;the principles of selection for training materials to the contents of manuals are described; a methodical organization of training materials in content of elective courses textbooks is made;a structure of textbooks on elective courses is described; a pedagogical technology of mastering the contents of these elective courses is modelled;a survey of foreign languages teachers in six regions of Ukraine regarding the quality of the contents for some thematic modules of elective courses textbooks is carried out;the basic research and theoretical concepts for construction of elective courses contents and the effectiveness of educational materials of elective courses in foreign languages are tested. The results of testing which are covered in publications of academic staff (28) and on the website of the Institute of Pedagogy (15), in speeches at mass scientific events (13), demonstrate the efficiency of the developed positions in relation to the productive providing for process of teaching foreign languages at profile school. On the topic of research the scientific researchers published a Syllabus of elective courses in foreign languages for high secondary schools, a Concept of elective courses manuals in foreign languages for students of 10-11th forms in specialized schools, 19 articles, 7 theses.34 research results obtained in the reporting and previous years are introduced into educational practice of secondary schools and regional institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education of Ukraine.Branch of the use: general secondary education (teachers and methodologists of foreign languages).
