The object of research - thorium in crystalline Ukrainian Shield Precambrian rocks (US). Objective: To estimate the total metallogenic potential of thorium crystalline rocks US. The state of thorium resource base of nuclear power in Ukraine in comparison with the world, assessed the resource potential and perspectives of development were described. General information on the metallogenic features of the geochemistry of thorium and thorium with aspects of the research classification are given. Thorium rock complexes of US were justified and applied. The regularities accommodation manifestations of thorium in regional shield structures (mega blocks and interconnects suture zones). Formational analysis of thorium were conducted. Times and periods of the formation of the manifestations of thorium are given. We identify and characterize the genetic types of thorium mineralization and provide comparative geological and genetic characteristics of certain manifestations of thorium in the Precambrian shield (Srednepridneprovsky, Ingul and Volyn megablocks). Stages of development of the structural plan SHIELD (and Azov Ingul megablocks and adjacent suture zones) due to the conditions of formation and localization of uranium, uranium-thorium ores were established. The regularities of the thorium concentration in supergene zone on the territory of the Ukrainian Shield, particularly in the weathering crust in hydrogenic (exogenous and polygenic) uranium deposits and placers. The results of the conducted field and laboratory work, radio geochemical criteria and study of the current situation, the expected potential short and long term radio-ecological impact on the environment of Dibrovske uranium-thorium-rare earth and uranium deposits in Kremenchug are given. The results of research on the scientific and methodological and technical support exploratory work on radioactive materials . Modification of modern radiometric, emanation and soil geochemical surveys to find deposits of radioactive materials are proposed.
