Objects of investigations: organic semiconductors, thin films, hetero-based liquid crystals, filled with inorganic nanoparticles, impurity crystals of naphthalene and benzophenone, long chain aliphatic compounds, the two-photon absorbing organic dyes, dye-doped liquid crystal lasers. Methods of investigations: modernized techniques of photo- and thermoluminescence, IR, Raman and electron spectroscopy; differential scanning calorimetry, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, methods of nonlinear optics. A detailed study of the fluorescent effects in the conjugated polymer media was performed and highly efficient own phosphorescence of ?-conjugated polymer was found with a quantum yield of 15 %, which is 4-5 orders of magnitude greater than the known values for conjugated polymers. IR spectroscopy methods show that the nanocomposite materials (based on liquid crystal with embedded organomontmorilonit (OMMT) nanoparticles) exhibit the van der Waals interactions between the surface of the OMMT and liquid crystal molecules. Two-photon absorption and stimulated emission spectra of new fluorene, squaraine and benzothiadiazole organic dyes were obtained, and high potential for their practical use in two-photon fluorescence microscopy was shown, including high resolution STED technique. A record ms frequency tuning time for dye-doped cholesteric liquid crystal lasers was shown for the first time (using highly photosensitive swirling azo- additives), which is three orders of magnitude shorter than corresponding times for known azo- and azoxy- materials. A new method for rapid frequency control of dye-doped cholesteric liquid crystal lasers was created.
