Objective: to determine the factors as regards development of depressive disorders in children, basing on the study of clinical, psychological, social, medical- genetic, neurohumoral, and neurophysiological parameters. Methods: clinico- psychopathological; pathopsychological (CDRS-R questionnaire, A.Lychko (PDQ) and Luscher tests, and Memorize- 10- words test), neurophysiological (linear and nonlinear EEG analyses); whole blood serotonin levels; melatonin daily excretion, blood serum cortisol; genetic (genealogical and cytogenetic). Results: the study provides a concept of the depression formation in children during puberty. The risk regarding formation of the apathetic variant of depression in boys and girls and dysmorphophobic variant in girls increases with age. It has been found that formation of depression in adolescents takes place under conditions of the neuromediator systems imbalance. Neurophysiological risk markers of the depression development (emotional-cognitive and reduced cognitive factors of neurogenesis and K-C- entropy decrease in the frontal leads) have been singled out. Some unfavorable prognostic factors on formation of depression, namely: clinical - social isolation, low self-appraisal, anxiety, the age of first depressive episode manifestation; psychological - low level of activity, infantilism, cognitive dysfunction; biological - organic cerebral insufficiency, frequent colds; genetic - hereditary and environmental have been highlighted. Novelty: clinical, psychological, neurophysiological, hereditary and environmental risk factors have been singled out, and the concept of formation of the recurrent depressive disorders in children at the stage of puberty has been substantiated. The diagnostic technology has been developed. Effectiveness: preventing the development and progression of depression as well as suicidal behavior in adolescents. Application fields: child psychiatry, social pediatrics, school medicine, psychology.
