Purpose of the research: scientific base for development areas of standardization system in archival affairs and records management, its harmonization with the international standardization system, development of the Branch standardization programme in archival affairs and records management. Research methods: synthesis and analysis, content analysis, historical, systemic, comparative, functional, descriptive. Theoretical and practical results: defined the state and modern trends for standardization process in archival affairs; analysed branch, national and international standards in archival affairs and records management; grounded harmonization directions of international standards and determined the list of profile international standards, which should be harmonized; justified the expediency of revising or amending the existing standards in archival affairs and records managemen. The novelty of the research: for the first time developed the Branch standardization programme in archival affairs and records management for 2016-2020 considering the necessity of its systemic development and expanding the directions spectrum of international standards harmonization. The scope: results of the research can be applied in practical, research and methodological work in the institutions of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, particular agencies of the AS of Ukraine, in the work of the lecturers of specialized departments at universities. Implementation efficiency: results of the research create methodological basis for the development of branch standardization in the near future and define promising areas of international standards harmonization.
