Purpose of the research: study of theoretical, methodological, organizational, legal and applied aspects of the work with audio-visual documents in archival institutions in Ukraine. Objectives of the research: to identify and process the sources for the research; to characterize the state of scientific development of the subject; to justify the relevance and feasibility of its study; to determine the methodology of the research; to summarize the experience, approbation methodologies and modern perspectives on the processing of audio-visual documents in archival institutions of Ukraine; to conduct scientific and applied researches and on their basis to justify the theoretical and methodological principles of the sets of the works with the audio-visual documents in archival institutions of Ukraine. Research methodology: a set of interrelated general principles, approaches, general and specially scientific methods, basic principles and methods and methods of archival studies. The novelty of the research: the research is carried out in Ukraine for the first time; the results of the research will be implemented in the development of methodical manual «Processing of Audio-Visual Documents in Archival Institutions of Ukraine» and in the article on the outlined topic. Scope of application: archival institutions preserving the NAH documents, including audio-visual documents. Implementation efficiency: application of the methodological guidance in practical work in the archives of Ukraine. The research conduct updates due to high public status, widespread use of audio-visual documents in modern information society.
