Aim of investigation: the effect of supplementation the transition cows diet with propylene glycol, vitamin E, protected methionine and protected carnitine separately and as a complex feed additive. The feed additive has both preventive and therapeutic effect on ketosis cows. The use of supplement enhances amylolitic and cellulolytic activity in the rumen. In the rumen contents a greater concentration of microbial nitrogen and VFA concentration and less ammonia and lactate have been found. The feed additive increased glucose concentration and decreased NEFA and ketone bodies concentration in blood plasma. The feed additive has an antioxidant effect. The fat-corrected milk production in cows received the complex additive was 5.26% higher in the experiment with soybean meal, and 10.54% higher in the experiment with soybean oil-cake.
