An approach to building of volume model of some relief surface material by one image is proposed. The advantage of the method is the lack of need to build a series of images with different levels of focus. It is proposed to use local contrasts or fractal dimensions for focus level estimation. The computer simulation of this method using fractografic image of 12H1MF steel is done. The research directions that allow using three-dimensional model of relief for metric measurements are also denoted. The algorithm for pitting inner surface reconstruction is proposed and it's accuracy is calculated. The errors of pitting depth determining induced by parameters of Lambert light reflection model deviation from actual values are analytically deduced. Analytical expressions are received and the method for calculating of light reflection through a series of images models' parameters is proposed.
