Processing and interpretation of analytical data. popup.stage_title Head Ponomarenko Oleksandr Mykolayovich, Registration Date 28-04-2016 Organization M.P. Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, mineralogy and Ore Formation popup.description2 Object of study - samples of coal from the coal fields, including the samples for content of the residual gas component. Samples of natural gas. Coal samples saturated with methane and carbon dioxide in the laboratory. Artificial mixtures of noble gases. Work purpose - to develop a range of devices and methods of measuring the isotopic composition of hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide and noble gases in the samples of natural gas. Develop and implement methods of selection of individual components of the gas samples to study their carbon isotopic composition. Develop and implement methods of processing measurement results of samples of coal deposits. Study the isotopic composition of the components of natural gas. Identify specific information content and complex characteristics of the isotopic composition of gases from residual gas component to identify the genesis of coal seam gas. Develop a system to account for the impact of amendments degassing coal samples sealing their survival on genetic information. Identify prospects of studying the isotopic composition of inert gas released from coal seams for more information about the genesis related hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide. Methods and techniques - mass spectrometry method of small variations (mass spectrometer MI-1201V, Ukraine), mass spectrometry method of static inlet of gas (mass spectrometer MI-1201IG, Ukraine). Additional equipment for desorption, separation and extraction of individual gases, measuring their volume and samples grinding. Results and novelty - Methods of measuring the isotopic composition of carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons in natural gas from coal deposits was developed. It was modified equipment for extraction components of natural gas and its oxidation. A number of measurements of the isotopic composition of carbon in the pilot and standard samples of natural gas and carbon dioxide performed. The methods of measuring the isotopic composition of noble gases in the samples of natural gas were developed. System for extraction and purification of noble gases to study samples of natural gas from coal deposits was modified. A measurement of the isotopic composition of noble gases in standard samples and artificial mixtures performed. For the first time studied the isotopic composition of carbon emissions from coal samples after grinding and subsequent heating. It is shown that the carbon isotopic composition of methane and carbon dioxide varies in opposite directions. For the first time studied the isotopic composition of carbon emissions from coal samples for residual gas component. The results indicate that a substantial loss of methane before samples germetisation. It is shown that the process of degasification affects not only the concentration but also the carbon isotopic composition of methane. At the same time, carbon dioxide and methane homologues less exposed to such influence. This is confirmed by experiments on sorption - desorption in laboratory conditions by measuring the isotopic composition of desorbed gases. Recommendations for the use of work - developed methodology and set of equipment can be used to investigate the genesis, mechanisms of transport and accumulation of methane and its homologues in mine gases, including gases from abandoned mines. Also, the results can be used to monitor changes in the isotopic composition of gas from coal deposits in time of their production. The results allow, in case of account previous sample degassing, use the residual gas component to identify the genetic characteristics of the coal seam gas. This can be useful in the study of coal samples obtained by drilling with layers that are not developed by mining. In addition, the results may help in explaining and predicting changes with time of characteristics of produced gas from coal seams. A special scientific interest are the first obtained results of changes in isotopic composition of methane and carbon dioxide during thermo-mechanical processing of coal samples.
