Thus, simvastatine applied in chosen dose during 2 months increases NO2 level in the aorta and myocardium of adult animals. However this increase is lesser compared with the use of atorvastatin. In old animals, these differences are more marked. Thus, NO2 increase is seen in the aorta and NO3 increase is seen in the myocardium especially due to NO3 level. Generally, this is mainly connected with changes in the NOS activity. In adult animals, increase of eNOS activity is registered in the aorta and myocardium, while in the old animals an increase of eNOS is seen in the aorta and increase of iNOS is seen in the myocardium. Notably, increase of NO level and NOS activity is mainly seen in the adult animals. Observed changes are less pronounced in comparison with use of atorvarstatine. Under statines influence, against a background of elevation of myocardial eNOS activity, the level of given eNOS gene expression increases in rats of both age groups. However, in the old animals the activity of eNOS and the increase of eNOS gene expression is seen to lesser degree. As regards the influence of used statins on eNOS gene expression, no statistically significant differences were observed. Comparison of effectiveness of the used statines revealed more marked effect of atorvastatin versus simvastatin.
