The methods of research - the hierarchic approach to the theory of oscillations and waves was used as the basic mathematical apparatus for theoretical research of nonlinear processes in SFELs. The modernization of averaged characteristics method was conducted in the part of the development of asymptotic integration schemes that combine direct and reverse transitions. We have developed multiharmonic cubic-nonlinear theory of plasma-beam superheterodyne free-electron lasers dopplertron and H-ubitron types with helical electron beams. The saturation levels and mechanisms have been found for the non-axial injection electron beam. We have found the optimal operating modes of plasma-beam superheterodyne FEL in which it is possible the formation of powerful electromagnetic radiation.
