Purpose: to search for best practices for sustainable protection and preservation of information value and operational properties of rare documents; measures to protect documentary collection from destruction and damage, eliminate or reduce negative impact that causes damage to the material basis. Bibliographic review on restoration, conservation and preservation of library documents; studying the experience of advanced restoration centers and development of new methods of conservation measures, restoration of documents. The introduction of appropriate conservation and restoration operations using new and improved techniques. Method: Statistical analysis of the results of research and qualimetric microclimate monitoring, physical and chemical research material basis of documents and restoration materials. The full preservation of documentary collection requires optimal wet-temperature, light, hygienic storage mode. In order to optimize conservation and restoration processes and ensure effectiveness of applied activities in the field of restoration we studied conservation technologies and experience of the world restoration centers in the area of monitoring the availability and safety of documents on various physical media; investigated storage conditions for documentary collection; conservation and restoration techniques were improved and implemented in practice. Reference publications database will contribute to facilitating the methods for searching, processing and testing programs to preserve the documentary library collections. Research results were used in carrying out of practical restoration and conservation.
