Theoretical and numerical methods and ones of statics and dynamics of thin-walled structures, structural mechanics, computational mathematics, experimental investigations are used. The results obtained. Based on developed procedures and algorithms, stressed-strained states of structural plate members with one and two different-shaped cuts (rectangular, circular, elliptic) in elastoplastic straining are analyzed numerically. The effects of shapes and sizes of cuts, distances between them are studied. Values of loads resulting in plastic deformations and formation of general zones of plastic deformations for cuts (initial failure) are studied. An approach to solutions of problems in optimal designing rod structures under simultaneous action of power loads and aggressive medium is developed to solve problems in the determination of rational parameters. Experimental investigations into the effects of cuts on the stability of modelled cylindrical shells in different loading are made. The effects of shapes and sizes of cuts, their locations on the values of critical loads are studied. Special features of wave formation and shapes of losses in stability are analyzed. Practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the results obtained help in assessing a more proper strength and finding additional resources of robustness of non-uniform members for heat-and-power engineering installations and machine-building under complicated operational conditions, resulting in designing rational structures and improving production technologies.
