The main tendencies in the Philosophy Institute's research of 1980's were the following: study and translation of the works of German communicative philosophers, development of philosophical anthropology, translation and interpretation of modern foreign philosophers (phenomenology, philosophy of life, existentialism, neo-freudianism, theoreticians of industrial society). Beside this the research of native philosophical heritage from Kyiv Rus' age to the 20th century was developed. It was found out that in the 1980's the transformation of the methodology of study of religions, which draw scientific atheism of the late 1980's early 1990's to the religious studies (Religionswissenshaft).
