The sequence of procedures and equipment for the characterization of superhard coatings by SPM with a diamond tip were developed. For the first time nanoscale images of nanoscratching / nanosliding results of AlMgB surface were obtained. The resultsdemonstrated the ability of the fabricated tips and equipment based on SPM to perform multi-function studies of superhard coatings with low friction.
