Subject of research constitute the state, structure and dynamics of crime in Ukraine, certain types of crimes for 2002-2015; socio-economic, demographic, political, legal, social and psychological factors, affecting the crime situation in the country; the attitude of the population and the police officers to the problem of crime and reaction to crime; methodology and methods of analysis and forecasting of criminality, definition of processes and phenomena that are factors of crime and their impact on the crime situation. The purpose of research - to provide an objective evaluation of the criminal situation in Ukraine in 2014-2015 and the prediction of further development in the coming years. The methods of this study is the collection, processing and analysis of scientific publications in the media, of ministries and departments analysis of crime factors, its concept, the basic features and performance, analyzing the state of crime in Ukraine and other countries around the world, determining the degree of latency; statistical analysis of data on the state of crime and criminal record in Ukraine and other countries, as well as socio-economic processes and phenomena that affect the crime; a survey of university students in Kiev on crime and police activity to combat it; police survey on crime and police operations to combat it; correlation analysis of crime data and indicators characterizing socio-economic processes in the Ukrainian society; logical modeling of complex factors of crime; statistical and qualitative prediction of crime.
