The purpose of the work is production technology development of low cement silicon carbide castable. The research methods are physical-mechanical, chemical and petrographical ones. Researches dedicated to production technology development of low cement silicon carbide castable have been carried out. An influence of material and grain compositions of initial components on the properties of low cement silicon carbide castable and castable samples from it has been researched. As a result of carried out researches the composition and production technology of low cement silicon carbide castable brand of "HКБС" have been developed. The low cement silicon carbide castable is characterized by following physicochemical properties: content SiC - 85 %, Al2O3 - 11.5 %, CaO - 1.35 %, grain composition - 2-0 mm, compressing strength of samples from castable after hardening for 7 days and drying at temperature of 110 °C (2 hours) - 36.0 MPa, after treatment at temperatures of 1000 and 1580 °C compressing strength - 38.0 and 124.0 MPa, apparent density - 2.63 and 2.64 g/cm3, open porosity - 18.7 and 18.1 %, accordingly. Researches of flowability and plastic strength of the developed castable have been carried out. It was founded that, the low cement castable of optimal composition keeps mobility for 5 hours and it can be used for lining performance during this time. The castable obtains the biggest strength during 48-52 hours. In accordance with the existing normative documentation in PJSC "THE URIR NAMED AFTER A.S. BEREZHNOY" the pilot batches of silicon carbide refractories on alumina containing and silica nitride containing binders have been produced. The refractories are corresponded to technical documentation requirements ТU U 23.2-00190503-380:2013. The work shall be continued in the line of production technology mastering of low cement silicon carbide castable, testing of this castable at a consumer, as well as production and application values expanding of silicon carbide refractories on alumina containing and silica nitride containing binders.
