Tugan-Baranovsky popup.description2 The result of the project will be establishment of regularities in the formation and structures evolution of polymer glasses at different levels of structural organization in the process of mechanical rejuvenatuion; determination of the mechanical rejuvenation process conditions resulting in the brittle to ductile transition, finding of the deformation mechanisms and the structural elements responsible for their realization; examination of the aging kinetics under the action of the temperature-time factor; analysis of the structure-property relationships in these materials. As objects of study will be selected brittle glass polymers (polystyrene, polylactide), and glassy polymers exhibiting embrittlement during storage (e.g., polycarbonate). The obtained results will provide the formation of general approaches to initiating of the mechanical rejuvenatuion process in polymer glasses in order to improve their mechanical properties, including the formation of extended "ductile" time period.
