Bacterial and fungal pure cultures were isolated from samples obtained during the 20th UAE, physiological and biochemical properties of 18 cultures were established as well as identification of 15 pure cultures. Mucor circinelloides and Geomyces pannorum, previously shown to accumulate lipids, were demonstrated to synthesize fatty acids with the flexible amount value in lipids depending upon a cultural media composition. The chemical identity of the Antarctic bacterial substances with antagonistic effect was established. The study of the heavy metal resistance of the Antarctic microorganisms to Ag, Cr, Cu, Cr discovered the bacteria and fungi capable to growth on the media with the high level of the toxic metals.
