A review of the theory of gamma-quantum excitation of the nanocrystal electronic system and its relaxation with multiple formation of charge carriers is presented. It is concluded, that nanocrystal semiconductors potentially are the good candidates, both for solar spectrum cells, and for spectrometers of a gamma-radiation from radioactive nuclides. The results of the preceding nine stages of the R&D project are briefly summarized.
