Objectives - determination of the fundamental characteristics of SOW conversion with and without steam addition. Methods of research - standard methods for solid fuel research and new methods for assessment of SOW air/steam gasification. An analytical review and analysis of experimental results on SOW conversion obtained in the CETI NASU and foreign advanced solutions for carbonization and gasification of solid biological, industrial and domestic waste with and without the use of catalysts. It is determined that the thermo-chemical SOW conversion should be carried out in two stages. A new installation of SOW two-stage gasification in a dense bed with downward flow of gas was created; the methods for the research of gasification and evaluation of the results were developed. To increase chemical efficiency, the installation was lined, and high-temperature steam flow and air flow fed into the middle part of the gasification reactor. There was carried out the research of gasification of waste wood, wood coal, and bottom sludge of aeration station in Kyiv. The fundamental characteristics of the gasification of solid waste wood, wood coal, and bottom sludge of aeration station in Kyiv on air and steam-air blast were determined. The effect of addition of high-temperature steam and calcium hydroxide on the increase in hydrogen in the obtained gas was defined. A new approach to the introduction of catalysts and CO2 absorbents into the gasifier was used. The hydrogen-rich gas, which after cleaning can be used to produce electricity in high-temperature fuel cells and liquid motor fuels without using water shift reactor, was obtained as a result of steam-air gasification of bottom sludge of aeration station at the new installation.
