Dokuchaev Kharkiv National Agrarian University popup.description2 On the model, which resistance is defined mainly by cellular mechanisms (wheat coleoptiles), the possible role of ROS and calcium ions in NO-dependent regulation of activity of antioxidant enzymes and resistance of cells to the damaging heating was investigated. The effect of increase of activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and guaiacol peroxidase under the treatment of wheat coleoptiles with NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) is established. This effect depended on ROS formation by cells and on influx of calcium ions to cytosol from both extracellular and intracellular compartments. It is shown that the treatment of wheat coleoptiles with 24-epibrassinolid (24-EBL) caused the transitional increase of nitric oxide. This effect depended on the calcium and redox homeostasis. The influence of 24-EBL on the NO formation in wheat coleoptiles was suppressed with the influence of antioxidants, NADPH oxidase inhibitor, and also antagonists of calcium. Inhibitors of enzymes of nitric oxide synthesis, NO scavenger, and also antioxidants and antagonists of calcium prevented with the development of stressprotective effects of 24-EBL. For the establishment of contribution of various pathways of nitric oxide synthesis to the formation of adaptive reactions of wheat plantlets the influence of L-arginine and nitrate as NO donors on its content in roots and resistance of plants to abiotic stressors was studied. Both L-arginine and nitrate caused the increase of NO content in roots of plantlets and development of their heat resistance. These effects were leveled by inhibitors of NO-synthase and nitrate reductase, that evidences to the contribution of both enzymes in NO synthesis by wheat roots. The effect of induction of antioxidative system of barley plants by nitric oxide donor SNP in the condition of soil drought and its positive influence on productivity of wheat plants is shown, that gives evidence to possibility of practical use of NO donors in plant growing.
