Aim of the research - determination of the connection between parameters of Ti and Fe powders HVED treatment and functional properties of consolidated hard metal materials. Peculiarities of electric discharge in organic liquid that contain initial powders of different dispersity and connection between parameters of HVED treatment of Fe and Ti powders and change of their dispersity and phase composition are determined in present work. An impact of parameters of high voltage electric discharge (specific energy, pulses passage frequency) on dispersity and synthesized phases content after powders treatment is determined. An increase of specific treatment energy from 4.5 MJ/kg up to 27 MJ/kg leads to decrease of particles mean diameter from 3.2 µm to 1.4 µm and increase of spherical particles content from 35 % up to 52 %. An increase of specific treatment energy during Ti powder treatment from 2 MJ/kg up to 20 MJ/kg leads to the synthesis of Titanium carbide in quantity from ~ 11 % up to ~ 71 %. Connection between parameters of HVED treatment of powders and functional properties (hardness, dynamic strength, wear-resistance, thermal conductivity) of materials consolidated by SPS is established. Obtained titanium carbide based hard metals have high specific characteristics of strength and wear-resistance, and their hardness is higher than 82 HRA in case of consolidation of powder, treated by HVED at specific energy in range from 18 MJ/kg up to 27 MJ/kg.
