Ushynskyy popup.description2 Object of research: Al alloys as reactor materials. Aim of research: to develop a method of the long-term prognosis of the radiation resistance of Al alloys under reactor irradiation. Research methods and apparatus: Modified algorithm of Molecular Dynamics (MD), computer modeling, computer experiment. Theoretical and practical results: The modification of classical MD method is developed. This MD modification is applied for investigation of radiation effects in materials in which atomic masses are significantly differed. To solve the problem the so called "shock function" is introduced to Verlet algorithm. The formation of "heavy clusters" (HC) is observed in such crystals (the example is U-Al alloy). Two specific functions that were introduced to MD program allowed investigating HC formation in certain intervals of energy spectrum of incident ions. Novelty and effectiveness: In comparison with known algorithms (Euler, Runge-Kutta etc.) modified algorithm Verlet gives more detailed information regarding mechanisms of radiation defects formation. We used this algorithm for investigation of processes of HC formation in triatomic and diatomic crystals.
