O.S.Kolomiychenko popup.description2 Report: 108 pages, 31 tables, 10 fig., 1 appendix, 193 items. Object of the study. State of the auditory and vestibular function, central nervous system, psychological status, auditory-verbal communication. Purpose. Evaluating the effectiveness of cochlear implantation according to the audiological, vestibular testing, quality of auditory-verbal communication, neurological and mental condition in children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness. Development of recommendations for rehabilitation outcomes improvement. Methods. Analytical, otolaryngological, neurological and psychological tests, subjective and objective audiometry, vestibulometry, surdopedagogical, molecular genetic studies. In our study we assessed auditory function in children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness according to objective and subjective audiometry data, evaluated the effectiveness of cochlear implantation (CI) using acumetry, tone audiometry, speech audiometry at three levels of intensity (50, 65, 85 dB) in a free sound field and determined speech discrimination at a signal/noise ratio in 5 dB. We evaluated auditory-verbal communication in children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness using surdopedagogy testing in the preoperative period and after cochlear implantation. Systematic and analytical neurological examinations of children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness were performed before and after CI. Features of the vestibular function in children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness were estimated before and after CI, which yielded data on the functional condition of the vestibular apparatus in general. Level of mental development in children of different ages, objective assessment of their psychomotor, cognitive, intellectual developmental status as well as their adaptive behavior and socialization were evaluated during psychological testing. We performed genetic screening in children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness to identify mutations 35delG, which was the ethiology of hereditary hearing loss and sensorineural deafness. The results of the analysis were obtained from the clinical diagnostic testing conducted in 150 children with severe sensorineural hearing loss and deafness before and after cochlear implantation.
