Objective: to create a national bibliography of Ukrainian press of 19th-20th cc., bibliography of foreign language press published in Halychyna region that are stored in Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine; formation of historical and bibliographic databases, as well as databases with bio- and bibliographical information from leading periodacals of Halychyna, bibliographic database of Ukrainian journalists, editors and publishers. Methods: systems analysis method that made it possible to recreate a historical retrospective process of periodicals publishing, historical bibliographic descriptive method, structural and typological (based on clarifying of typological characteristics of editions), thematic, comparative, genre and stylistic, analytical, problem-chronological, kilometrical and biographical methods. The results: the integral study of the Ukrainian press of second half of 19th - the first third of the 20th century. More than 1,125 periodicals of 1917-1924 in Ukrainian, bilingual and foreign languages were collected, systematized, analyzed and put into scolarly circulation, a database of historical and bibliographical descriptions was created and completed the fifth volume (1917) and form the content of subsequent volumes of historical and bibliographical survey "Ukrainian press in Ukraine and the world of the 19th and 20th cc"; a model of historical and bibliographic study of multilingual press of 19th-20th cc. Galician media map was reconstructed (1 615 descriptions of Polish periodicals); historical and bibliographic databases containing historical information necessary for conducting further synergy (sighting) researches were made. Results of research (95 papers) were published in professional journals and scientific collections. 7 books were published, including three professional issues of "Proceedings of the Research Institute for Periodical science" and the fourth volume of historical-bibliographical survey "Ukrainian press in Ukraine and the world of the 19th and 20th cc." (1911-1916), manuscript of the fifth volume (1917) was prepared as well as manuscript of historical and bibliographic study "Foreign language newspapers in Halychyna, 1876-1939, stored in Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv".
