The molecular genetic passports for 55 barley cultivars were composed. Molecular genetic approaches were worked out to identify genes that cause resistance of wheat to drought, salinity and freezing (Dreb1), brown rust (LR34), Septoria (Stb4, Se68 and Se107), pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) (Vp-1Bc, R-A1b). A study was conducted on the polymorphism of shp1 gene sequences and its homologs in Antarctic mosses encoding a small hydrophobic protein that get activated under the influence of dehydration, excessive salinity, low temperature. A number of recombinant plasmids were constructed based upon the vector pUC19, which contain the coding sequence of the gene shp1. The DNA of NAD-H dehydrogenase gene was isolated from Antarctic hair grass (Deschampsia antarctica) mitochondria and was cloned into the vector pUC19. The expression of genes and functionality of genetically modified plants were studied in the artificial conditions. It was suggested to use antibiotic paromomitsyn instead of kanamycin in the selection of transgenic plants with the gene nptII (on the example of Nicotiana tabacum). The expression of gene cry1Ab, which provides resistance to the European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis), was studied in plant extracts using a biological test system with silkworm larvae (Bombyx mori). The changes were studied in the content of photosynthetic pigments in plants cybrids Brassica napus and Orychophragmus violaceus, which have chloroplasts Lesquerella fendleri, compared to the parental forms.
