The purpose of the research comprises the intensification of the process of decomposition of biomass and increase of the biogas yield through the use of the electro-discharge treatment of the organic substrate prior to fermentation. A laboratory bioreactor including fermentor using the principle of portion substrate supply and gas holder is developed. A model of biogas equipment with a set of abovementioned bioreactors under identical pressure-temperature conditions corresponding to mesophilic fermentation and subjected to model influence of such technological operations as mixing is developed. Optimum raw material is chosen and method and procedure for the preparation of biomass on its base for anaerobic digestion are proposed. The type of discharge is selected, the original design of the electrode systems suitable for use in industrial fermenters are designed and tested. The criterion (portion of capacitor energy which is released in the gap from the energy stored during the half cycle of the short circuit) for the distinction of discharge modes is proposed. Combinations of initial conditions for the realization of pulse corona in the biomass which provides a range of criterion values from 0.19 to 0.94 (five basic modes) are determined. The difference of almost 4 times of the integral values of the influence of electric current for the basic modes is displayed. It was found that for a given cycle turnover time of a bioreactor (middle of a traditional range), the intensity of a biogas production can be increased by 40% with the same quality of biogas (methane content) relatively to a control sample.
