The subject of the research were changes in the magnetic field at the surface of the metal portion, which passed severe plastic deformation prior to the forthcoming of the defect. The main objective was to study the factors influencing the possibility of further operation of metalwork objects of engineering high-risk and apply to them the theory of risk in determining forthcoming defect state, as well as the development of a new magnetometer instrument, based on registration and analysis of the distribution of the properties of magnetic fields, to identify and analyze areas the concentration of stress, defects, heterogeneity of metal structures critical to the integrity of metal structures having advantages over existing magnetometric devices.
