A new method (Ukraine Patent 55690 U of 27.12.2010 Bulletin №24, 2010.) of intraocular retinoblastoma combined chemotherapy based on local chemotherapy (intravitreal injection of alkylating cytostatic agent melphalan 10 µg) and systemic chemoreductation (VEC - protocol)were developed with indications to its use. A histopathological examination of eyes enucleated after an attempt ofsalvage eye treatment, including intravitreal chemotherapy confirmed the safety and efficacy of this method. A system of salvage eye treatment, based on the primary combined chemotherapy in combination with local tumor destruction methodswas developedfor intraocular retinoblastoma.
