Such problems associated with microbiological contamination arise in pharmaceutical industry, agriculture and in health care facilities, etc. To reduce postoperative complications in medicine the following steps for processing instruments are required: washing, disinfection, pre-sterilization and sterilization treatment. An important requirement is also sanitation and disinfection of operating chambers. Nowadays, thermally labile complex shaped tools with internal cavities have been increasingly used in medicine. In this sense, the development of ozone technology based on dielectric barrier discharges for disinfection and sterilization in different areas is the most important technology that allows influencing the temperature factor, energy process, and the time required for processing tools. Ozone reactors based on the dielectric discharges developed at the Institute of Plasma Physics KIPT allowed to manufacture a number of devices for low-temperature sterilization and disinfection of medical instruments and disinfection of premises for medical and agricultural purposes. Two low temperature ozone sterilizers with ultrasonic cavitation with bath volumes of 28 and 3.5 liters have been constructed. Three types of ventilation-type ozonators based on surface dielectric discharge with output ozone concentration from MPC to 80 mg/m3 were developed. A portable, physiotherapy ozonator for disinfection of burn wounds has been developed. The unit for water ozonation of "UPOV-001" type has been manufactured.
