Objective: Research and development of new generation biocompatible functional coatings for use in implantology. Research method: complex studies including the synthesis of coatings, study of their mechanical, electrochemical properties and biological tests in-vitro. The project is dedicated to finding new materials of thin-film coatings for metal elements implanted in the human body. These materials must provide a reliable long-term operation and at the same time meet the biocompatibility requirements. The project provides for comprehensive study of the problem in one group of authors at all stages: the synthesis of coatings - investigation of their properties - biological tests. This interim report is a description of the experimental setup used to deposit biocompatible coatings, and a detailed description of the technology of synthesis of metal oxide films. Also, the results of experimental research of both magnetron discharge and the synthesized coating properties are presented including the structure and topography of the surface, free energy and factional polarity, adhesion potential of bone marrow cells.
