Goal of the work is prognosis of structural and chemical-mineralogical characteristics of the Moon with methods of optical remote sensing using satellite data from space data of different spatial resolution and ancillary terrestrial telescopic observations; search for and interpretation of structural and chemical-mineralogical anomalies of lunar surface. Methods of investigation are spectrometrical and photometrical, using theoretical analysis and computer simulation for interpreting the results. The basic tasks and methods of optical remote sensing of the lunar surface with aim to obtain new information about the physical properties (optical and structural properties) and chemical and mineralogical composition of the surface layer of the Moon are discussed. The specifics of the WAC data, which should be taken into account during constructing the seamless albedo mosaics, are considered. It is necessary for efficient use of data of space missions for remote sensing of the lunar surface, including data of LROC WAC, mounted aboard the NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). The method of transformation of cartographic projections of images obtained by wide-angle cameras from low orbits with taking into account the influence of relief has been proposed. Choice of digital maps of topography of the Moon that are most suitable for data processing of the LROC WAC data are discussed. The obtained results can be used in the planning and implementation of space missions to the Moon and other atmosphereless bodies of the Solar system by world space agencies.
