Karazin popup.description2 The subject of investigation is the electromagnetic waves of surface type with extraordinary polarization which propagate nearby the interface of plasma cylindrical column having homogeneous density profile, which is separated from the cylindrical metal chamber of waveguide by dielectric layer in the case of absence of the external magnetic field; the conditions of parametric excitation of these waves by external alternate electrical field, which is oriented perpendicular to axes of symmetry of the waveguide. The purpose of this work is to develop the theory of excitation of azimuthal surface waves of extraordinary polarization in isotropic cylindrical waveguides, partially filled with cold plasma; the search of conditions for effective parametric excitation of azimuthally surface waves, which could be used for analysis of experimental results and making plan for future experiments in plasma radio physics and electronics. Methods of investigation Problem-solving involves the application of contemporary methods of the theoretical analysis (successive-approximations procedure, solution of Maxwell's equations, Vlasov-Boltzmann equation, etc.) and also numerical simulation on computer. The numerical simulation includes the numerical solution of Fokker-Plank equation and application of full-wave numerical code TORIC; experimental investigations were provided my methods of optical spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Results of investigations The theory of parametric excitation of electromagnetic waves which propagate across the axis of symmetry in cylindrical waveguides which are partially filled with cold isotropic plasmas is developed. The problem was investigated theoretically in an approach of fluid model. Formulae for electromagnetic fields were obtained from Maxwell's equations. Azimuthally nonsymmetrical electromagnetic waves propagate in the form of wave packet which are described approximately by the main azimuthal harmonic and two the nearest satellite temporal harmonics. Nonlinear boundary condition describes the propagation of surface current at the plasma interface. The dependence of the growth rate of parametric instability of these waves on the parameters of plasma-filled waveguide and alternate electrical field is studied both analytically and numerically.
