In conditions of high pressure - high temperature (HPHT) prototypes of diamond single crystals of type IIa and Iib have been produced. The studies of the spectra and X-ray photographic diamond single crystals samples have been made. The absorption spectra show the typical spikes at wavelengths of 575 and 637 nm, which corresponds to the optical spectra of NV-centers in diamond. A study of the current-voltage characteristics of the diamond samples have been made. On the basis of the experiments diamond samples with extremely low concentrations of nitrogen (<0.1 ppm) in the diamond type IIa and 30-40 ppm concentration of boron in the diamond type IIb have been selected for the further development of particle detectors. Experiments on growing of conductor-insulator multilayer diamonds to the study of the samples by scanning electron microscopy have been made. For the first time in the world by one synthesis loop at high pressure - high temperature multilayer single crystal diamond consisting of parallel conductive and dielectric layers has been grown. This diamond is promising for the development of detectors of fast and slow neutrons in the current and pulse modes at nuclear power plants of the fourth generation. Due to the absence of transient contacts, the detector from the resulting diamond will have advantages in reliability and higher radiation resistance as compared with the conventional counterpart.
