Introduction F- ions in the reaction mixture to obtain zeolites due to the formation of surface Si-F bonds and adjusting the ratio of Si-F / Si-OH can shift the selectivity of formation of products paired alcohol/ether in the formation of asymmetric ether of p-methoxybenzyl alcohol. The presence of trivalent element, boron, and especially aluminum in zeolite structure helps shift the selectivity of the process toward the formation of ether - selectivity in the case AlE-BEA is 100% relative to the ether.
