The aim of the work is to assess the current state of marine ecosystems, the trends of changes and to replenish the database of the Regional Black and Azov Seas Database. Research method - statistical analysis of expeditionary observations, cartographic analysis of data. Based on the historical and modern array of hydrophysical, hydrochemical and hydrobiological observations, satellite data of chlorophyll-a contents on the surface of the Azov-Black Sea basin and literature sources, the assessment of the state of ecosystems in the Black and Azov Seas in 2016 is carried out. Identified features of natural and anthropogenic processes that cause the development of eutrophication of shelf waters and associated ecologically dangerous phenomena. This assessment of contamination by toxic chemical compounds (oil and chlorinated hydrocarbons, heavy metals and radioactive elements) of the marine environment. The presented assessment of the state of hydrobionts (phyto- and zooplankton, meio- and macrozoobenthos), as well as an assessment of the ecological state of some areas of the Azov-Black Sea basin by modern methods of biological indication and biological testing. Trends in the ecological status of marine ecosystems in recent years have been established.
