The purpose of the work is to improve survival methods of military personnel in extreme conditions of professional activity. The content of the work contains an analysis of the main types of extreme situations (conditions) that can affect military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the performance of their professional duties, the analysis of the relationship between the level of physical readiness of military personnel and the effectiveness of their actions in extreme conditions, the analysis of the experience of military personnel training of the world's leading countries in terms of ways of survival and actions in extreme conditions, the overview of the main ways of survival and the actions of military personnel in extreme conditions, the recommendations on ways of survival of training in extreme conditions. Research methods are analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparison, generalization, classification, systematization, surveys, questioning, conversation, observation, testing, experiment and mathematical statistics. Following results have been obtained in the course of the work: the main types of extreme situations (conditions) that can affect military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the performance of their professional duties in combat conditions, including when carrying out tasks in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country, have been identified; the risk factors that arise during the professional activities of military personnel under the influence of extreme situations (conditions) have been studied; the interrelations between the level of physical readiness of military personnel and the effectiveness of their actions in extreme conditions have been analyzed; the experience of military personnel training of the leading countries of the world in terms of methods of survival and actions under extreme conditions has been analyzed; the ways of survival and the actions of military personnel in extreme conditions have been substantiated. The practical significance of the obtained results is the introduction of recommendations (proposals) on the military personnel training system (tactical-special, physical, psychological, medical, engineering training, etc.) of various military specialties. The data of the report have been introduced into the educational process of the National University of Defense of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky (course "Endurance and survival on the battlefield", materials of the seminar "Methodology of the commander (chief) activity on the substantiation and development of programs for special physical training of military personnel (units) for the service in extreme conditions"). Moreover, obtained results may be used for the preparation of new editions of the guidelines for the training of personnel, improvement of the system of survival on battlefield as well as in the educational process of higher military educational institutions.
