In the research were established patterns of defects occurrence under the diameter and wall thickness reduction in processes of tube piercing as well as longitudinal rolling at plug mill. The research was focused on defects that lead to rejection of all pipes at ultrasonic testing in accordance with requirements of API Spec 5CT. The deformation modes that prevents appearance of the defects as well as the method of rapid technological tests of tubes for defects detection and deformation modes correction were designed.
