The aim and the purpose of the research are compliance of national legislation in the field of measuring and developing of the technical competence criteria for gemmological laboratories regarding identification and evaluation of the quality of precious, semi-precious and decorative stones. The main objectives for the second stage of the research are overview of testing laboratories and accreditation requirements for the management and technical competence; accreditation areas of international gemological laboratories and institutions; principles of standardization procedures for gemological examination. Expected results of research - recommendations on improving methodological support of gemological examination for precious, semiprecious and decorative stones taking into account the requirements for accredited laboratories of technical competence and management system.
