Obtained recombinant S. cerevisiae strain with double deletion dpdc1 dpdc5 revealed practically no activity of pyruvate decarboxylase, was unable to grow on the glucose as a sole Carbon source, produced minor amounts of ethanol and increased amounts of glycerol in comparison with the wild-type strain. Introduction of heterologous genes ACL1 and ACL2, encoding two subunits of ATP-dependent citrate lyase Yarrowia lypolytica into the genome of S. cerevisiae dpdc1 dpdc5 strain restored its ability to grow on the glucose as a sole Carbon source but didn't influence much the glycerol production during alcoholic fermentation.
