In the paper, the classification of graphite in the list of strategic mineral resources of Ukraine is based on the estimation of volumes and directions of graphite use in the system of modern industrial production, analysis of the distribution of world graphite resources, state and prospects of the graphite industry in Ukraine. The results of the research can be used in the implementation of geological, forecast-mineralogical research, the selection of priority areas for exploration of objects on graphite, for the development, expansion and improvement of its resource base.
