The subject of the research - the theory of design of cutting tools. The basic provisions: the design of cutting tools for high-speed cutting. The purpose of the work is to increase the efficiency of high-speed processing of various types of material with the help of macro and micro geometry of the cutting tool, state of preparation of the contact surface of the tool, the refinement of the positions of the theory of designing the tool with regard for the physics of the process. The research are based on the finite element method (FEM), construction of models based on experimental data, magneto-abrasive machining (MAM) of the cutting edge, experimental research of stress and temperature fields in the tool. The main idea of the work: development of the positions of the theory of tools for the design of high-speed tool processing. With the help of which the theory of tool design and cutting theory are determined for the development of tools with increased efficiency. The idea of the project is based on the analysis of such phenomena as tensile stress and thermally stressed state of the tool, which most of all reflect the basic process of cutting.
