The object of the research is the effect of the composition of the electrodes on the production of carbon nanostructures by the plasma-arc method. Subject of research - pitch coke, pitch, coal tar, catalysts. Methodology - two-band method for determining the electrical resistance of anodes, plasma-arc method for the synthesis of carbon nanostructures, translucent and scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy for determining fullerene structures. Practical and theoretical results - the method of obtaining of carbonaceous nanostructures with the use of coal coking products, which are part of electrodes, is developed by the plasma-arc method; single- and multi-wall carbon nanotubes were obtained. The novelty of the obtained results is a scientifically grounded mechanism for the formation of carbon nanotubes with the participation of pitch coke, which consists in the release of a large number of carbon fragments of the super-high temperature occurring in a plasma-arc reactor, and their subsequent inclusion in catalytic action.
